What does anybody think about them? I think they are beyond tacky. It puts pressure on somebody in a situation where there should be none. I just wish people would say no just to teach the showboating, manipulative, inconsiderate prick a lesson.

Generally speaking, embarrassing.
However, I don't support the idea of marriage to begin with.

Not a fan, personally. Although so many proposals are pre-planned, if that is what both people want, go for it.

Boring to see and it really puts people on the spot. Who says she's wants to get married? I love seeing videos of the ones that go badly.

They are stupid Its time that people learn that marriage is outdated and we don`t need in a modern society. It is needed for one reason: marriage as a legal contract that provides financial protection for both persons in the couple and for any children. A wedding ceremony can be nice if both parties wish to publicly announce their commitment but that is not "marriage." This confusion between marriage and a wedding is what is behind a lot of right-wing bigotry against gays having a marriage contract.

Absolutely NO. It's beyond tacky and if she says no, you've just been blanked in front of tens of thousands on the Jumbotron. Proposing should be classy and romantic. This is neither. Especially if she's not into sports and you had to drag her to the game.

No; the whole point of someone doing this is to manipulate the person into agreeing to marry the proposer (because no one wants to refuse in front of a crowd). Marriage to a manipulator is not a wise move, unless you love being on the receiving end of emotional blackmail and other types of psychological abuse.

Thank you for that. I only hope that serves as a lesson to anybody else planning the same shit.

A single person who don`t want to get married A single person who want to get married would not. Plenty of people both among men and women who don`t want to get married.

It's better to do in private and rather casually. If it must be public, then it has to be already accepted, otherwise you will never live down the embarrassment.

It's the public honeymoons that are really bad.

Public marriage proposals just seem silly and show-offish esp. if the answer is already known. Thankfully, I've never had to witness one irl (I've seen plenty of them in the movies). While I have nothing against marriage per se, I would think that proposing to your partner-to-be in a public place takes away from the seriousness of what's being proposed. Do you really want a crowd of strangers witnessing what might be the most important decision in your life? It's better to do such a thing in private.

I just wish people would say no just to teach the showboating, manipulative, inconsiderate prick a lesson. Well. I guess I do agree with the notion that a person who cares about you might not want to say "no" in public so as to not embarrass you. And then will be forced into the position of having to back track on their "yes" afterwards in private, creating another situation.
On the other hand couples that have reached that point have at least usually talked about it. I'd never ask without having some clue which way it's gonna go...
