I’m planning to rewatch a couple (probably Italian) jungle cannibal films this upcoming weekend, but I was curious to what people see as the best, or at least their favourite/s from a sub-genre usually not for the squeamish. The quality of these films can vary a lot, but I know Cannibal Holocaust is an obvious choice, but the likes of Cannibal Ferox, Jungle Holocaust and Man From Deep River also have their fans who hold them at the top.

I voted for the only two movies I've seen on this list:
Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death The Green Inferno
I really appreciate you posting this list though, now I have something to search for and watch in the cannibal genre.

When the danish production company Another World Entertainment began releasing obscore and weird or hard to find cult-classics and horror films back in spring/summer of 2006, some of their first titles were a lot of uncut (for the first time I think in norway) DVD copies, where they had a small line up of cannibal related horror films through a series called: Jungle Horrors or something close to that.
I picked up a few titles such as Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, Mountain of the Cannibal God and Eaten Alive but I think I only saw Cannibal Holocaust, and while a solid movie with a beautiful score, however it ended up turning my stomach inside out due to some incredibly nasty and gruesome scenes which I am not sure I will ever want to re-watch again. But that was way back in 2006, so maybe I should give it another go. Of the other titles I mentioned above, I also should try to watch a few of them, as I do not like have movies in my collection which feels like "unfinished" business where I have still yet to see them through.
Of the titles you have written down as options for voting, I have not seen many, but Treasure of the Amazon (1985) was actually not that bad, more like a low budget italian "b-movie" of Indian Jones or the Quatemain 80s adventures, but I thought it was pretty good at times. Massacre in Dinosaur Valley was one of those horror/adventure releases I remember I planned on picking up back in 2006-07 when my favorite DVD store had a few copies of it from (I think Shriek Show/Media Blasters) but never got around to it and have always wondered if I missed out on a "classic".

Love these films! (Well, some of them...) The Italians must be given credit for creating this glorious and controversial subgenre that's admittedly run its course by now.
My five favorites:
1) Cannibal Holocaust - Ruggero Deodato's epic cannibal film. The real animal killings are reprehensible, of course, but the film itself is so good that it's not to be missed. Also, it's the first found footage horror film, I believe. Not for all tastes.
2) Jungle Holocaust - Deodato's earlier cannibal film has all the suspense and adventure of Holocaust but it's not nearly as brutal or graphic.
3) Cannibal Ferox - Umberto Lenzi's classic cannibal film has all the gore and brutality of Cannibal Holocaust but none of the "seriousness" or substance of CH. In fact, it's quite cartoonish. Unfortunately, there are more real animal killings.
4) Mondo Cannibal - Bruno Mattei's 'better late than never' cannibal entry is basically an inept and comical Cannibal Holocaust ripoff. If you're a fan of Mattei's earlier works (Hell of the Living Dead, Rats: Night of Terror, etc), you'll know what to expect and love every hilarious minute of it!
5) Cannibal Terror - Another 'so bad, it's good' cannibal film. Jess Franco had something to do with this one (screenwriter, I think). Basically, it's the same cast as Franco's White Cannibal Queen and it was probably filmed on the same day as that turkey. Worth it for the lol moments.

I've only seen two of these (Cannibal Holocaust and Green Inferno) and I think I'm good.

The first 4 + the delightfully sleazy Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals.
Edit: I voted for my favorites, EATLC is not one of the best but just one of my favorites. I do think the first 4 are the best though.

So looking at the list for the poll I realize that this is one category of horror that I'm not well versed in.

Of the other titles I mentioned above, I also should try to watch a few of them, as I do not like have movies in my collection which feels like "unfinished" business where I have still yet to see them through. I remember the first time I watched Cannibal Holocaust. I was quite nervous to what I was going to see, especially from it’s reputation. I was disgusted by some scenes, but also blown away by how affective it was in its transition from beautiful one minute to out right disturbing the next. The harrowing score would have to be favourite aspect of the film. Cannibal Ferox can be just as nasty, but rather over-the-top. I don’t find the pacing as smooth, or even the story as engaging, but there are a few memorable sequences that you wouldn’t forget anytime soon. Eaten Alive! was decent, but pales in comparison to the above. I enjoy Mountain of the Cannibal God, but it’s more of a jungle adventure with elements of jungle cannibalism. Yeah, Treasure of the Amazon and even Cut and Run are probably be bit of a stretch, but I always seen them mentioned (at the latter end) when it comes to this sub-genre. I do like Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, but it has more in common with Mountain of the Cannibal God, despite being also labelled as Cannibal Ferox II.

If you're a fan of Mattei's earlier works (Hell of the Living Dead, Rats: Night of Terror, etc), you'll know what to expect and love every hilarious minute of it! I still need to see the former and the latter looks like goofy fun. Laughably bad indeed. If I’m correct, this is the one where the cannibals have sideburns, white make-up, shoes and look like they don’t even like eating flesh?! Plus the jungle couldn’t look any more less than a jungle with it’s trimmed lawns and pine trees. Let’s not get into the plot .
