ABC Reportedly “Recommended” Oscar Changes, Including Adding Popular Film Category
Well.... what happened to the days of Logan and TDK getting noms fairly and on artistic merit with no need for an mtv category.
also mcu fans, do you believe us now on disney's influence on the media and that is why your dumb movies gets mysterious good reviews?
its over, comic films no longer have credibility.
Though I am worried of the race backlash Black Panther is now going to get. it won't be pretty.

I think it's high time there was a best blockbuster category. Considering that these movies make the most money and garner the most audiences, it's kinda weird how it never got an award before.

I guess the higher ups figured "well isn't that what MTV is for? Wait a second, is MTV still a thing with the younglings?"

I guess the higher ups figured "well isn't that what MTV is for? Wait a second, is MTV still a thing with the younglings?" I just feel like it's kinda weird how the most watched movies aren't usually included in an awards show about movies. They are included. As someone pointed out on the Film General board, here are the top 10 highest-grossing movies when adjusted for inflation: Gone With the Wind (1939) Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) The Sound of Music (1965) E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) Titanic (1997) The Ten Commandments (1956) Jaws (1975) Doctor Zhivago (1965) The Exorcist (1973) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) The top 9 were all nominated for a Best Picture Oscar and 3 of them (Gone with the Wind, The Sound of Music, and Titanic) won the Best Picture Oscar. So your statement should be "I just feel like it's kinda weird how MCU movies aren't ever included in an awards show about movies." And it isn't weird at all, because MCU movies have been awful and no MCU movie has been deserving of any Best Picture awards.

I wonder how many times I've had to do the same thing now where one of you makes a thread in response to an article and rather than using the articles title for accuracy you've twisted it into your own personal bias leading me to just correct the title to avoid the upcoming arguing.

disney like the rest of us knows Black Panther is not a worthy film, you even said it is not a top ten comic film.
so how was this allowed?
no bias here...just facts as usual.

So you're saying it's a given that it will be nominated....and why shouldn't it be? It's a popular movie that happened to be a very good one held in high regard from critics. It would warrant a nomination. How many other big movies this year have been received as well as that one?

how did disney manage to push the oscar for a silly category just so black panther can get nominated. Who said that Black Panther was going to get nominated? The Academy created this new category because Disney bullied them into creating it. It's as much a sure thing that Black Panther will get this Disney-manufactured aeard as it is that everyone who disintegrated into dust in IW will be brought back in Avengers 4.

So you're saying it's a given that it will be nominated....and why shouldn't it be? Because Black Panther is an awful movie that's full of plotholes and contrived writing.

I'm sure you wouldn't think that if literally any other studio made the exact same movie. But you're entitled to your opinion, as biased as it is.
