I love ED2 and AOD but the TV show just sucked. I was so disappointed. Ash behaves like a complete moron, the story was the same thing every episode. How long can you stretch out them trying to stop a demon from getting a book? Horrible stuff happens every episode but the characters always act surprised or shocked. By AOD Ash wasn’t surprised by and didn’t fall for deadite shenanigans.
The other 2 main actors were horrible and their characters one dimensional.
I would have much preferred a single direct to Netflix or Stars or whatever movie or maybe a couple of movies to the 3 seasons of mostly filler we got.
It’s sad because that’s most likely the last we’ll see (other than maybe a cameo) of BC as Ash.

It was hilarious, I never took it too seriously and was often pleasantly surprised. Random gore scenes and a silly attitude, good stuff. Not meant to rewrite the book or anything, it just entertains.

I had the opposite reaction. I loved every minute of it. Good, classic, zany fun. They played up the Ash we met in Army of Darkness and it worked quite well. The new characters were also a pleasant surprise.
I agree that it could get formulaic at times, but given that it came from the same guys that brought us Xena and Hercules, I can't say that I was surprised. But even still, I found it easy to get into and highly entertaining.

Yeah to me the two supporting characters were awful and watching them go “what the fuck is that” or “what is happening” every time something gross happened.....when something gross happened 10 times an episode....got old quick. AOD Ash wasn’t a complete buffoon. He did stupid stuff but he also was heroic and dashing. ED2 Ash wasn’t a buffoon at all. bt AVED Ash just went full retard. I had to struggle to make it through most of the episodes. And Hercules/Xena is exactly what the show felt like most of the time, a dumbed down TV version of a movie. I know the same guys made the movies and the show but the show and the movies are a million miles apart in terms of time. its hard to take any of the villains in the show seriously. It’s just sad because it was such a wasted opportunity. Judging by the ratings falling off Idobt think I’m alone in thinking the show got pretty tedious.

Well, I don't see Ash in AvED as the *same* Ash in AOD. Just an evolution of that character, similar to how he evolved between I and II and then again from II to AOD. It didn't work for you apparently, that's OK. It didn't bother me, personally. Also, I think the ratings are more indicative of the fact that this was a niche program to begin with that just never found an audience beyond the built-in fanbase.

I started watching the first episode and was immediately disappointed to see Campbell as Ash. I had assumed it would be a reboot with a much younger actor, and I think that's the route they should have taken.

I commented on what I thought the ratings (something you brought up) might indicate. Don't know why you're turning a simple conversation into such a tedious chore, but I'll let someone else step in and enjoy your company for now.

Yeah. and I thought he was just great. Almost everytime he opened his mouth it was hilarious. I know you disagree though.

Bruce Campbell is Ash and no one else should ever play the role. Out of curiosity, are you a millennial?

I still need to see Season 3, but from the first two seasons, I really enjoyed it. 1 was the better season.
