A bunch of fun. A drive-in classic.

It's drive-in cheese, but it has some nightmare visual moments.

Yeah the worm stuff with the body moving is pretty creepy. The director also made JUST BEFORE DAWN which has some creepfying visuals too. I am surprised that one is not better known.

I really dug this one when I caught hold of it some years ago. Maybe not the most suspense filled horror movie but it comes with a pretty good atmosphere and special effects. Will have to come back to this thread later on as I have been planning on saving up some good and fun creature feature titles for a all night movie marathon, sooner or later. I think this one would sit well in along with Ticks (1993) and Slugs (1988). Director Jeff Liberman put out some good horror/thriller back in the day, where I have not seen Just Before Dawn (1981) in years but remember that it surely was one of the better wood-slasher titles of the late 70s/early 80s which was not part any popular horror franchise, along with The Creeper aka Rituals (1977) as well. Another very good and (sadly far too overlooked, or so I think) Lieberman title is the chilling horror-thriller Blue Sunshine (1978) where he decided to take a closer look at the possible and frightening, worst-case scenario of the horrifying side effects that is happening years later on to the flower childrens naive flirt with drugs and free love during the late 60s.

Only because it reminds me of Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

I only remember seeing part of it once, and not recently. And yet, the name Don Scardino immediately comes to mind. For the life of me, I wouldn't be able to pick him out of a police lineup.

Blue Sunshine's the bomb. CBS used to show it quite a lot on their old late night movie (talk about the pre-cable dinosaur days, lol). A local arthouse theater in my city is going to be showing it as part of a program of cheesetastic horror flicks sometime this month.

A fine entry in the "Mother Nature runs amok" sub-genre of horror that dominated much of the 70s. Good creepy-slimy fun.
