I don’t feel like paying for the WSJ, so what exactly do they say?

A Family Guy movie? Isn’t it 10 years too late for that? Also, I still have no idea why anyone would think this merger is a good thing. Is having less variety and a potential monopoly really worth it just so Wolverine can interact with Spider-Man?

I thought that was the purpose of studios like Miramax or Touchstone? Or whatever they have now. Just do that and call it a day.

When was last time Disney put out an R rated adult film under Touchstone , probably nothing past the late 90s. Miramax was pretty much the old Weinstein company. In 90s they put out stuff likely Pretty Woman ,Enemy of the State, Con Air and The Rock.
Woops The Royal Tenenbaums came out 2000s

This is a crack piece of reporting from the WSJ. I wonder if they've noticed how "awkward" things are getting throughout the entire Disney empire? Guess we'll hear all about that in the follow up.

Is having less variety and a potential monopoly really worth it just so Wolverine can interact with Spider-Man? You do know that Fox was selling regardless, right? So no matter who bought Fox, there would have been "less variety." It's not like Disney went to Fox and forced them to sell off their entertainment side.

Did I ever imply that Disney forced Fox to sell themselves? No, I did not. I’m well aware that Fox was always planning to sell. How exactly does that negate my point about how this is going to lead to less variety in the entertainment industry?

I would’ve hated for Comcast to have been the ones to buy out Fox as well. The idea of any major studio buying out another major studio is a bad idea to me, and it’s not worth it just so the X-Men and the Fantastic Four can be part of the MCU.

So would you rather Fox just dissolve? If Fox dissolved then everyone would lose their job at Fox and the Marvel characters would go to Marvel Studios anyway.

The one who didn’t want to do it was Rupert Murdoch. Again, I would’ve preferred it if he didn’t come to the decision to sell most of his company. That’s me.
