I think the show is alright actually, but I couldn't quite follow how sometimes he can take out a room full of axe wielding ninjas or men with guns, and other times he has trouble with one random security guard in a trailer or a drunken master. Were those two supposed to be major tough opponents or something? Because they just seemed as random as the groups of guys he beat with ease.
And this was the hand? In daredevil they were an absolutely fear inducing band of elite ninja's. Somehow this group is comprised a few mall cops and troubled teens. WTF?!?!? Episode 10 was actually that test where you find out how many 5 years you can beat up.

Well he did get injured by the hand when they put something in him and was not able to fully recover his chi. Maybe that's why he had a hard time when fighting the drunken master and the random security guard because he was not back up to full strength but never the less still manage to beat them.

That makes no sense. It was days later and there was no reference at all that he was still suffering any ill effects from previous fights. I mean I'm all for supporting these shows, but you're just making stuff up. And the security guy I'm talking about was the guy in the back of the truck who he fought to free the chemist. There was no excuse for having trouble with that guy.

Jessica Jones had the same problem, at one point having no problem blasting through groups of people, other times getting beaten down fairly easy by other regular people.
It makes no sense, most likely just plot related. To show the human weakness of the main character, I suppose. But it doesn't always make much sense.

The Drunken Master was a Drunken Master. He was also elite Hand. If she had him guarding that door he had to be something powerful. Same with them having that guy in the trailer. He wasn't some random security guard. They had him in there to guard something and they weren't going to put some random mook in there. Also, with that trailer guard, Danny couldn't readily call the fist in a fight yet. As for the kids. That's all they were. He unwittingly infiltrated a Hand training camp. They weren't full Hand ninjas. Hell, they probably weren't the actual Hand, but a splinter group.

After finishing the show I finally got it in perspective. The Hand has levels. Colleen is on the first level. She truly knew nothing and thought she was saving kids from the streets. Bakuto was on the next level. He ran the first stage of brain washing youth in that area, and was no where near the black opps level that Gao and Nubo were on. Nubo would destroy Bakuto, and so would Daredevil. Gao on the other hand is elite, and this structure helped me realize why the Hand was so weak here. Gao didn't care what Iron Fist was doing, as long as he wasn't stopping an invasion of Kun Lun.
