Lithuanian lasineciai (bacon buns, a soft roll with a bacon & onion filling). I haven't had these since we left the Chicago area. No Lithuanian bakeries in Nevada, New Mexico or Alabama. I don't know if there are any Lithuanian bakeries still open in Chicago. (I also loved the dark Lithuanian dark rye).

SAVE FERRIS Garlic peppercorn bread from Jacques' Bakery in Kauai. This is by far my favorite bread. Multigrain Tuscany Bread from Giant Eagle. It is so good with things like Spaghetti, Chili or Ham and bean soup. Or just by itself. Sometimes I will take a slice or two and warm it in the microwave oven and just add butter. Outstanding! Here it is.

Nothing beats a fresh, good-quality French-style baguette, as far as I am concerned.

It was a bread my mom used to make in a casserole dish. It had dill and cottage cheese in it and it was delicious!

When I was a little girl of 5, my mother left us and I went to live with my Grandmother. A trip to the doctor revealed I was suffering from malnutrition. All I would eat was bread and milk. I was not allowed bread or potatoes. I balked of course, but when I was hungry enough I had to eat what there was. I remember when my Grandma said I had been such a good girl I could have 1/2 a slice of bread a day. Little by little I was allowed all the bread I wanted. Other than peanut butter sandwiches bread no longer interested me. To this day I am not terribly fond of any bread. I'd be perfectly happy with good old soft Webers bread, but my husband says it isn't bread at all.

I don't know which bread is what.
I grew up with 4 or 5 Italian Bakerys in my area. I would just walk in and wait for the latest loaf of Italian bread to be brought out, then I would buy it an eat it whike it was warm.
I ate all the crust, and about 20% of the inside.

My best bread of all time was the Italian bread from United Bakery here in N.O. Sadly, United Bakery got destroyed in Hurricane Katrina and never re-opened. It was a dense, braided loaf with caraway seeds on the top. Whenever we'd get one I used to love pulling apart the braids and dipping them plain in good-quality extra-virgin olive oil.
