This is one doctrine I've never known. Answers a lot of questions I always had.
Ever since I read the gospels for the first time, I was puzzled as to what became of the virgin Mary. I wondered if she was still walking around alive, perhaps one of those multitudes that Jesus said would not taste of death till he returned. I figured since Jesus said the first would be last and vice versa, that those still walking around were the ones never named in the Bible, the "least", but that Mary might have a special place among them, since she never had any boastful stories about her.
If she was whisked into Heaven like Enos and Elijah, that would make 3, not 2, who never tasted Death.

I even remember when I first read that Elijah went to Heaven physically, I said, "Wow!!! Elijah is just like Mary!!!!"
