We cannot fully comprehend God but He is personally knowable. Unbelievable the lengths you unbelievers will go to undermine and discredit the Christian God that deep down most of you know likely exists. 1) I fully support your belief in the Christian god. Religion provides structure. My personal beliefs don't undermine the notion in the least. If you need to pretend I secretly think it "most likely exists" in order to bolster your own thoughts, I've no issue with that either. 2) "God is truly awesome, beyond what we know..." "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable." "Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?" "Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?" Unsearchable. Unknowable. Beyond what we know. If you could boil it down to empirical proof, something we know, something concrete, it wouldn't be the God of the Bible. All that said... be still, Cody.

I don’t pretend. I strongly suspect.
Again we can’t know everything there is to know about an infinite being. But being incomprehensible doesn’t automatically make him unknowable. We know through his word what he has revealed of himself, ie his character, divine attributes and how he seeks a personal relationship with us.
”This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, 24 but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24
”Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:2-3

I don’t pretend. I strongly suspect. And I strongly suspect that you don't really. Yes it does. If god is incomprehensible then you have no way to know that you understand his word, or that it even is his word.

@graham
No. At least incomprehensible in the older sense of unable to be fully understood.
What part of God is unable to be fully understood aren't you fully understanding?
Scientists don’t fully understand quantum mechanics, but through research they’ve managed to amass significant knowledge of the theory.

@graham No. At least incomprehensible in the older sense of unable to be fully understood. Yes. But this is not a valid comparison. Quantum mechanics is not yet fully understood, but it is understandable. According to you, god is not.

Quantum mechanics is not yet fully understood, but it is understandable. According to you, god is not.It’s a valid comparison because God is not fully understood either, but He is understandable. Your statement also implies that quantum mechanics will in future be fully understood.

Aka the scriptures of every religion. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Baha'i... all of them have prophets who claim to have spoken on behalf of God. And as long as Judaism, Christianity and Islam exist, and as long as just one adherent of these religions pretends that his/her religion is incompatible with the others, they are making the idea of God less credible.
