Would you sacrifice your life to save the lives of strangers?

My intuitive response is "No," but I can't guarantee that I might not do something risky to help others without thinking too much about it in an emergency situation.

I would say no but I think in truth if faced with a surprise situation, one cannot know what they are going to do until it happens.
I think the emotional state would decide whether one feels they have to intervene or think about oneself.
Also the vulnerability of the person in distress.
If they appear unable to help themselves at all, one might be more inclined to intervene or if they ask for help. Peer pressure would be a factor too.

Elaborate please... The scenario as you present it is not enough to make a conclusion. For example: the scenario completely changes when the strangers are the whole planet Earth, or millions of people, or an orphanage full of kids, or the guy who is destined to save the world from the Terminators. etc.

I don`t know. If I knew for sure somehow that they were good people, then I'd like to think so, yes.

But there are so many selfish people out there these days. So if I did sacrifice myself, how would I know I'm not just saving a bunch of selfish people who wouldn't do the same for me?

No, but if the danger is only mild, then maybe.

Sacrifice... no.

Risk... possibly.

It would depend upon the circumstances.
