And do what with them, exactly? Both franchises are done IMO.

I can see it happening for Scream. Not so much Alien since it's already a huge enough franchise. Scream is more minimal, so for them to buy the rights for that makes more sense.

They should try getting the rights to Friday the 13th first.

There is no money in shitty 80s and 90s nostalgia. Now that's just patently false. Pretty much 90% of the modern pop culture landscape is shitty 80s and 90s nostalgia. Fuller House, anyone?

There is no future for slasher franchises. There is no money in shitty 90s nostalgia. The small, niche fanbases will never embrace change, and the larger public won't give a shit. Jurassic World says hi.

I give in. I was wrong about the bankablity of nostalgia. My point about slasher films having no future still stands. I reckon you may be right about slashers, but all the same you can never really know what horror trends may emerge in the coming years. A possible revival of the slasher sub-genre in the 2020s perhaps?

I am not opposed to them rebooting 'Alien' if they bring back Ripley but I think they should adapt the movie they were talking about having before with Sigourney Weaver returning to play the character one last time first. I am not sure about 'Scream' 'cause I recall Neve Campbell recently saying she was finished with the 'Scream' movies and didn't want to make anymore and continuing them without her after she was in the four movies would just look like somebody trying to cash in on the success of the name in my opinion. Hopefully Jason gets the rights for 'The Crow' so he can fix the franchise up 'cause there are a lot of great stories in the comic books that could work on screen and I disagree with people who say they shouldn't make anymore 'cause of what happened to Brandon Lee 'cause The Crow is a comic book series - one that is still going now with the latest series, 'The Crow: Momento Mori' and I wouldn't mind seeing that adapted to screen. With Rob Cohen making the 'Razor'movie they could also adapt 'The Crow/ Razor' team up series 'Kill the Pain' if the studios are willing to work together.
