Just watched the Lynyrd Skynyrd documentary on Showtime. Very good rock-doc about the band. Just the classic days, the Johnny Van Zant days are just a footnote.

Sounds good. I'll look out for it, thanks. Not a huge fan of the band but I do enjoy their first album.

The song is like a gift card that is shipped in a refrigerator case, too much packing. But when they did hit on a song, they really hit on a song. Tuesday's Gone, Ballad of Curtis Lowe, That Smell. And I did love the three guitar approach and I loved the backing group, the Honkettes. They suffer from being soooooo overplayed on Classic Rock Radio. Probably 2nd to Zeppelin.

My dad was a huge fan and some of the first music I was ever exposed to as a young kid was from them. I consider myself a fan. I don't mind Free Bird, but whenever Sweet Home Alabama or Gimme Three Steps comes on the radio I turn it. I don't hate them, but I've heard them way too many times. My favorite song of theirs is On the Hunt followed by I Ain't the One. I'll have to check this documentary out.

You always hear how "Skynyrd hated Neil Young" because of the line in Sweet Home Alabama. But Neil and Ronnie Van Zant got along well. Neil did SHA in concert, Ronnie wore Young shirts and Young wore LS shirts. Rumors has it that Young wrote Powderfinger for Lynyrd Skynyrd but they never used it.
