They're all still D-list except Peter and Bruce.

I think claiming that characters like Shuri, Valkyrie and hawkeye are now icons is a bit of an exaggeration.

Well that list is bullshit because rally before the MCU Iron Man and Okoye were on the same level? I don't think so, and yeah most of them aren't iconic just world famous, but for howl long remains to be seen.

I'm really surprised not to see Loki there.

I'm really surprised not to see Loki there. Yeah, Loki is currently one of the most famous MCU characters. A solo Loki movie would probably perform better than Antman or even Dr. Strange.

This might be a good indicator what was perceived as a pecking order of the Marvel characters. I was sorting through my figurine collection which started pre-MCU in 2005, with my nephew, and noticed many were considered lower n the list than they would now Eaglemoss figurine list

Scarlet Witch should've been there too.

I was really surprised to find out Iron Man was a C-list superhero, I was never really into superheroes but I knew who Iron Man was and I always thought he was one of the biggest/better known superheroes.

Nah, he was definitely C list. He wasn't as well known as Thor and Thor was already toeing the line between B and C list.

I tended to go for the lesser knows heroes. Spidey was the big hero.
But Thor, Cap, Kazar, Ghost Rider, Dr Strange, Defenders (Valkyrie was on the team), all skirted cancellation. Monthly to bi-monthly to quarterly...

I'd have said Iron Man was more well known than Thor actually.
He had his own 90's cartoon. He appeared in the Spider-man cartoon. He was in Capcoms Marvel fighting game series and other games. He had an animated movie in 2007. Ghostface Killer named an album off on him.
And other stuff. At the least he was B list.

He was part of the Marvel Super Heroes rotation in the 60s with Cap, Thor, Namor & Hulk. But he wasn't big. I remember Hawkeye & widow way more in the comics. He was in & out of the Avengers. Hawkeye, widow, vision were regulars. I remember Scarlet Witch as an Avenger more than as an X-Man.

None of the MCU heroes are iconic. The author of the article clearly doesn't know what iconic means. Iconic is something that is well-known by over 90% of people (which disqualifies all the MCU heroes since most people have never heard of them) and has stood the test of time.
Things that are iconic are Mickey Mouse, the Big Mac, and Coca-Cola. And for superheroes from American comics, the only iconic superheroes are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man.

which disqualifies all the MCU heroes since most people have never heard of them Yeah I’m sure most people have never heard of the superheroes featured in the 4th highest grossing movie of all time.

That's correct. 1st, most people have never even seen any MCU movies and have never heard of any MCU heroes. The box office for MCU movies comes from repeat viewings by MCU kids so when you just look at the number of different people who actually watch MCU movies, it's a very small percentage. 2nd, in addition to being well-known by over 90% of people, it has to stand the test of time to be considered iconic. Things like Mickey Mouse, the Big Mac, Coca-Cola, and James Bond have stood the test of time. So have Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man. But not so with the MCU heroes.

LOL dude, now you're just making excuses as to why MCU movies are successful. And judging how the MCU is 10 years old and still going strong clearly proves it will stand the test of time. And when Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Panther outgrosses those 4 iconic superheroes, it's time to put them into that exclusive iconic club.

No, MCU heroes will never be in the exclusive iconic club. Not everything can be iconic. Otherwise, it would lose all meaning and prestige for something to be iconic. So only a small set of things can be iconic. For example, Mickey Mouse is iconic, Speedy Gonzales isn't iconic. The Big Mac is iconic, the Jumbo Jack isn't iconic. Coca-Cola is iconic, Mountain Dew isn't iconic. James Bond is iconic, Jason Bourne isn't iconic. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man are iconic, MCU heroes aren't iconic.
