In so many horror movies I see some things are going on in Cornwall. I wonder why I dont see strange things happeining in East or West Midlands or even Yorkshire. But so many British sci-fi movies (especially those of classic era) and horros that are shot in rural locations have the main story going on in some Cornish village.
Any other location in any country that is so frequently depicted in horror movies?

Cornwall has moors, rugged coast, rolling sea mist, and is relatively quite an 'isolated' county. No through traffic, only folk going to Cornwall go to Cornwall.
A land of myths, legends, pixies, superstition, hauntings, witchcraft, smugglers, wreckers, old abandoned mines that stretch for miles under the seabed, pirates, and sea monsters.
Great setting.

Interesting. Also great that you mentioned sea monsters as today only I watched " Behemoth the Sea Monster (1959)" which is a movie where main thing is going on in Cornwall. In 2013 I had a plan to go to Cornwall with friends but instead went to Wales. If I get another chance I do definitely love to visit Cornwall.

Don't go in summer or Bank Holiday weekends, it's minging busy. Winter is best with the Atlantic storms battering the coast.

American Werewolf in London was set in the Yorkshire moors. Yet they filmed it in the Black Mountains near yer.

Just a thought: Celtic background maybe. Lends it an air of mystery and the supernatural. Why Cornwall and not Scotland, Ireland or Wales? Can't say. Maybe because the Celtic aspect in Cornwall is more a thing of it past; buried, as it were.
