I'll freely admit that not too many years ago I used to look forward to Saturday nights on the Scifi/Syfy Network, because there would always be some cheesy but fun monster or disaster movie with high body counts and high has-been celebrity counts. They were the modern equivalent of the rubber monster epics Frank Zappa paid tribute to in "Cheepnis," maybe with a bit more self-consciousness of their own ridiculousness. They grew more preposterous and overtly comic; after a time it became a running gag that an airplane would be destroyed by some giant monster leaping thousands of feet into the air. Mickey Dolenz was eaten by a giant snake while Tiffany and Debbie Gibson cat-fought. The ridiculousness reached its peak with the 'Sharknado' series, but by this time it was so self-consciously winking in the audiences' faces that something had been lost. I mean, it's not like these movies were ever subtle, but now Tara Reid might as well be physically jabbing you in the ribs and saying "See what we did there? Isn't that OUTRAGEOUS?!!!"

Stupid, failed imagination, shows the bankruptcy of the movie companies. It's like their memory only goes as far back to Jaws or Star Wars.
They make films for hipsters who like to laugh at movies, not watch them. I talked to someone from Malaysia who loved Asylum movies. They were great laughs he said.
Yes, another satisfied globalist customer.

The title for the latest Sharknado is funny though.
The Last Sharknado: It's About Time
though it seems like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for stars--Tori Spelling, Bernie Kopell and Latoya Jackson.

I thought I had seen it all until a few nights ago when they aired Santa Jaws.
