I'm all over this one! I was a bit worried about Pine's accent but it looks like he nailed it here.

So this is what that Robin Hood movie should have been like?

I need a list of these Select Theatres, so I can plan this. My internet can barely handle 2min trailers, so Netflix streaming is noooooot gonna happen.

Looks like a sequel to "Braveheart". And I can watch it on NETFLIX, I'm in!
One small complaint; "Based on the untold true story". Really? I'm pretty sure this story has been told in one form or another at some point over the last several hundred years.

Honestly I'd rather see it in the theater, but I'll take it any way I can get it. Can't wait!

Just finished it (its currently streaming on Netflix) . Flat out superb film (I don't agree with a lot of the negative reviews AT ALL) . The battle scenes (esp the last one) were all brutal as hell and just really well done. Also was impressed with Pine 's performance as Robert the Bruce. Very subdued and quite vulnerable at times but commanding when needed to be.
If you have Netflix or its playing near you in a theater, would highly recommend checking this one out!

In spots I was impressed by the attention to detail in terms of actual history, which only made it more puzzling when they threw history out the window at other times. But overall it was fantastic, much more factually accurate than Braveheart (which is still an awesome film in its own right). Just another performance that makes you wonder why Chris Pine doesn't have a better career. Stannis as Longshanks was fun, too.

@jakesully it appears they actually trimmed 25 minutes away from the plot. I read on WhatCulture that the negatively reviewed cut was the one screened months prior.

Mackenzie (the director) re edited it cause one of the biggest complaints from the critics was that it dragged a bit in certain parts .

@jakesully it appears they actually trimmed 25 minutes away from the plot. I read on WhatCulture that the negatively reviewed cut was the one screened months prior. Supposedly there were a few scenes with William Wallace. I thought it was a good idea to mention him off screen and not involve him directly. It would've been distracting to the audience. I also heard there was a scene involving the spider in the cave. While it's vital to the legend of Robert Bruce, it's mentioned in another scene already and I don't know what it would've added to the film to anyone other than history junkies like me (though one could argue that's who the film was made for in the first place). There's a lot of feedback saying it would've been a better Netflix series. Name a good movie that wouldn't have been better as a series. For what we got I thought it was fantastic; and considering it will be forever compared to Braveheart (an all-time classic battle epic of a film that won Best Picture), it held its own and then some.
