I often see The Eagles get a lot of criticism, but obviously someone is buying those albums.
Just a note to corporate radio stations: they actually have other songs aside from 'Hotel California'.

The Eagles have influence beyond what you might think. Start this 2017 album at the fifty-one minute mark for example:

OK, was confused. Appears AC/DC still have the best-selling studio album by a band with Back in Black.

Greatest Hits album, must've been a creative slog to produce. It's probably #1 in the US because WalMart pretty much only sells cds from The Eagles, Taylor Swift, & Ted Nugent. Look now for viral push to buy Thriller in droves cuz that'd show'em? lols So stupid.
I own both. The Eagles Greatest Hits I bought while working at music store, on a semi-completist phase collecting at discount such well known &/or best selling albums. Thriller I've the deluxe hard book release, bought same via same discount, HMV downtown Toronto in the falling snow. I went first thing in the morning, & remember buying my friend a copy cuz there was no re-shipment on those editions. Included the dvd of the music vids for Billie Jean, Beat It, & Thriller. It's basically a photo album book the size of the cd case.

OK, was confused. Appears AC/DC still have the best-selling studio album by a band with Back in Black. That's still the Eagles too. Hotel California is #3 with 26 million. time.com/money/5373055/michael-jackson-thriller-the-eagles/The Eagles were ahead in 2006 too but Thriller was counted last year. Eagles are pretty far out in front of Thriller now with 38 million to 33 million. RIAA only counts when they are paid to do it from what I understand so a lot of artists are listed with lower sales than they really have.

Imagine 'owning' even 1% of an album that has gone platinum, 38 TIMES OVER !! Anybody have ANY idea (even just a ballpark figure) what the (approximate) TOTAL revenue MIGHT be that ended up being taken in by the record company on an album selling that many copies, and also, what the (approximate) TOTAL dollar figure was that would then have gone to the band from that figure (BEFORE being divvied up between the individual members (including the larger 'cut' for the songwriters, etc., etc.)) ?? In other words, a best guess on the total (retail) dollar figure this album might actually have made, and then, what part of that total then might have ended up going to the band ?? SAVE FERRIS
