Not surprising given how Venom is meant to be the launching point of Sony's Spiderless-Verse, the intent being a shared universe of multiple franchises, seems obvious they would have the star of their first film locked in for multiple pictures out the gate, rather than have to sign a new deal after it comes out where if Venom crushes Hardy could ask for a shit ton of money.
Plus it's kind of standard for franchises these days, but nice to know Sony weren't spanners and forget to do so, it is Sony after all.

My guess is they plan on bringing in Carnage at some point. If this does do well, they should save him for part 3 so that audiences are not worn out by symbiotes.
