FIGHT ME! Convince me otherwise if you dare......!!! In all seriousness though, Return will always be my favorite Star Wars film. I think it takes what made Empire Strikes Back so great and presents it in an even better way. The asteroid fight in Empire is obviously a cinematic milestone for "Space" battles, but Return of The Jedi really doubled down on that and gave probably the best space battle out of all the Star War films, including the new ones. I just find Return more rewatchable than Empire as well.

They're pretty close together in my book, with A New Hope being the lesser of the three.

There is no argument that Return of the Jedi has astounding visual effects and has one of the best space battles in the franchise. My first problem was the over-long sequence of trying to rescue Han from Jabba's palace and trying to decipher what was Luke's plan. Okay, he sends C-3PO and R2-D2 to be traded in exchange for Han. He also sends Leia to disguise herself in order to infiltrate his palace and have Chewbacca taken as a prisoner in order to rescue Han, but somehow Jabba had foreknowledge of their arrival and catches them in the act. Then, Luke tries to bargain with Jabba.
My second problem is the overtly cute Ewoks and their attempts at humor brings the movie down. George Lucas's initial idea of the Wookies fighting the Empire was much better. Third, this movie probably suffers the most from Lucas's later changes to the original trilogy. The "Jedi Rocks" song is terrible and has cringy, in-your-face CGI that doesn't match with the look of the film.

I like all 3 of the original trilogy equally, but Jedi has always been my favorite.

I agree.
But it also has its problems. The other user has a point about the overlong opening but it has never really bothered me and it is a very visually creative and tense sequence. I basically like it the best because it is the most entertaining and the best acted of the trilogy with very fun action sequences and a nice ending to the OT. The stuff with Vader and Luke is terrific on a dramatic level. The introduction of the Emperor is another great aspect of the film. My biggest complaint is the Ewoks, but they are tolerable.
Empire suffers from pacing issues and inconsistent performances imo. The Yoda training stuff is necessary but it also brings the movie to a screeching halt and disrupts the flow of everything. I have mixed feelings about Yoda in general. He is this master Jedi and wise elderly character but he is played for cuteness and that was a mistake imo. The Ewoks are also played for cuteness but they aren't as important or serious of characters, so they can get away with it better. I think Empire lacks suspense at pivotal moments, which is another problem I have with the film. The action scenes are big and relatively entertaining but they are never very thrilling imo.
Empire has the most interesting story elements of the first 3 films, I just don't think they are done as well as they should have been. Hamill's reaction to the big reveal is terribly acted for example and it seriously damages the dramatic impact that the moment should have had.

TESB is a better movie story-wise but I did always find ROTJ more entertaining.

RotJ is probably the least rewatchable for me outside of the prequels. Someone said the Yoda training scenes slow down Empure, but that's nothing compared to the Endor scenes.
And I disagree on the space battle. We'd already seen one Death Star blow up, and all of the participants here are relatively minor characters, so it lacked the urgency and intensity of the trench run in ANH for me.
Outside of that, the cinematography is pretty flat and garish, especially next to Empire which is one of the better looking movies out there. The twist here is stupid and gross and doesn't make a lot of sense, compared to the genius of Empire's. Hamill is the only actor who has improved, while Ford clearly doesn't care anymore and Fisher is stoned. Yeah, I definitely prefer Empire.

The asteroid fight in Empire is obviously a cinematic milestone for "Space" battles, but Return of The Jedi really doubled down on that and gave probably the best space battle out of all the Star War films, including the new ones. I just find Return more rewatchable than Empire as well. The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. Return of the Jedi was my least favorite of the original trilogy. I love them all; it was just the least of the three. Now with all of the others, it went from my third favorite of three movies to probably my third favorite of ten.
Return of the Jedi I only have difficulty watching again because it's closure and always makes me feel like I'm not ready for it to end. It's easier to watch since The Force Awakens came along because it's no longer the last, but they payoff from Return of the Jedi is so demanding on my emotions. Especially when Luke sets Darth Vader on fire.
The other two are still building the mystery. The Empire Strikes Back is the perfect middle movie because it hits the ground running and ends with the satisfaction of closure without ending the story.
I love them all, but I don't love the Ewoks. Me personally, I don't really like any of the Star Wars critters and wildlife unless you count Wookies. I love them and Chewy.

Gotta disagree with you. While I like Return, it just isn't as magical as Empire or even Hope. The Ewoks were a major issue, as adorable as they were.
