People actually think that's a real photo of Saturn? I know Reddit is known for having lots of idiots, especially the popular subreddits, but still. That is pretty sad isn't it?

We also have flat Earth believers, a disturbing trend that is a reflection of the failures of American education.

This doesn't even scratch the surface of the lower depths of human stupidity.

Well no, that wasn't exactly my original gripe, but yeah I'm sure there are many people like that too, possibly most of them, and that's even scarier. [than the ones who "knew" about Cassini] A lot of assuming is exactly what these reddit users are doing. They're assuming Cassini exists in the first place. They're assuming it was successfully launched. They're assuming it made it as far as Saturn. They're assuming cameras work in space. They're assuming that's actually what Saturn looks like, etc None of us have ever been up there so we don't know if any of that shit is even possible. Therefore we shouldn't assume anything.

what about that reddit thread is showcasing that people are stupid? i am genuinly wondering... I did not read the thread, i am just saying people are stupid. And that includes me i see. well there is a genuinely interesting debate going on in that thread, over a photo that is a pure marvel showing how far we have gotten with technology and space exploration, and what amazing things we see there and can try and speculate, and one day maybe further explore and analyze why they are there the way they are and look the way they look. like the hexagon on Saturns pole.

what about that reddit thread is showcasing that people are stupid? i am genuinly wondering... I've already explained why to you… no not really. you "explained" why you personally think people are gullible. not at all what would be a symptom of that in that thread. And this question was A) asked before you provided your "explanation" but further more B) it was aimed at Feologild, I was asking his opinion and what prompted him to say what he said.

What is the basis for saying that they're "blindly" believing that that is a photograph of Saturn? I believe that it's a photograph of Saturn, for example, but I'm not "blindly" believing that it is. I'm believing that it's a photograph of Saturn based on a lot of evidence over a long period of time. It seems like you're assuming that people have no knowledge of astronomy, and specifically Saturn, prior to being presented with this photo.

I can’t tell whether it is actually a photograph of Saturn or not, but the picture quality looks to be distortingly fucking with the colors. Here’s an example of Saturn should look like: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn#/media/File%3ASaturn_during_Equinox.jpgSo if anything, that photo up above does look to be a bit too bright to resemble Saturn. Though, Saturn has been shown to change colors from time to time.

We also have flat Earth believers, a disturbing trend that is a reflection of the failures of American education. Which is foolish, considering how photos from satellites have proven that the Earth is in a shape of a sphere; and if photos are somehow not enough to prove that the Earth isn’t flat, then they should just watch a ship set sail on the sea, and then that will debunk everything as the mast appears to sink below the horizon first and then the hull seem to rise over the horizon. If the world was flat, then the ship wouldn’t be able to dip below any curve of the Earth. The Ancient Greeks were one of the first ones to realize this before the invention of satellites.
