We also have flat Earth believers, a disturbing trend that is a reflection of the failures of American education. Which is foolish, considering how photos from satellites have proven that the Earth is in a shape of a sphere; and if photos are somehow not enough to prove that the Earth isn’t flat, then they should just watch a ship set sail on the sea, and then that will debunk everything as the mast appears to sink below the horizon first and then the hull seem to rise over the horizon. If the world was flat, then the ship wouldn’t be able to dip below any curve of the Earth. The Ancient Greeks were one of the first ones to realize this before the invention of satellites. It's got nothing to do with photographic proof. It's to do with what else they believe that combats that. Most likely religion or odd home teachings. It also has nothing to do with American education (shit am I sick of hearing about American education being sucky, we're not the only country on this site!). You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. If a kid says his parent or religious supervisor told him otherwise, all we can do is acknowledge his view. It sucks and THAT is why not much real learning is done anymore. Ma mama said different!
