Just watched this.
Always been put off this by the cover blurb saying "from the maker's of Saw and Paranormal Activity", two films I don't care for.
But I found the Insidious three film boxset in the bargain bin at cheaper than one usual DVD, so thought I would give it a whirl.
Story was good I thought... But felt like some kind of Poltergeist retread... And whilst we're there, I reckon Get Out stole some ideas from Insidious.
Cameraman couldn't hold the camera steady for some reason, and framing was ropey.
Went off too quickly, and relied on jump scares... Would benefit from a slow burn, and going more for brooding creepiness.
Still, quite enjoyable, would only be a 6/10, but Lin Shaye was ace, and her assistants were quality, so lifted to 7/10.

I started watching it and the first ten minutes were so dumb I turned it off. Also, I loathe Lin Shaye and her appearances in 50 million horror movies.

I've always liked this movie. In hindsight, this basically is a modernized version of Poltergeist with similar aspects to it. I'm guessing it's paying homage.
