Guess he'll be set up to be the guy after Brees retires. Darnold will almost certainly be starting for the Jets in week 1.
Also, Packers backup QB Brett Hundley traded to Seattle. Yawn.

Yawn. i friggin' love this move by the Saints. bingo - he's the guy after Brees - who cares if it takes a couple of years - and what better guy is there to learn from out there apparently Darnold is really impressing up in New York - Tony Romo (who I really enjoy as a commentator) came out and stated he can see Darnold becoming one of the best of All-Time.

Lucky for Darnold, he gets to play 4 games vs the Bills & Dolphins.

I touted this move to all my buddies over a month ago! I'm glad to see that Mickey Loomis & Sean Payton have read my mind and got us a capable replacement for Drew when he decides he's had enough.

It does seem like a good move for the Saints. They gave up relatively little for the assurance they get back. And also, good move for the Jets. For the first time I can ever remember, they had an overabundance of competent quarterbacks. Generally, that's been the opposite of their situation every year til now. They knew Bridgewater wouldn't be there for more than a year or two anyway, and McCown was a good enough temporary placeholder. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves with Sam Darnold. I haven't been too much of a fan of Romo as an announcer (although I think he's getting better), but he obviously knows the game and player evaluation. But saying he could be an all time great before he's ever taken a snap is a bit much. That seems more like headline grabbing than anything else. This is a draft pick by the Jets, after all.
