What do they need ROH for? I don't understand that. Why don't they just offer all 500 plus indy companies in the country a little money while they're at it so that way there could truly only be one and only one company.

Thanks for reporting/sharing this. There've been varying rumors about this happening for about a year now. It'll be interesting to see whether it goes through.

Because ROH has recognition and a video library. It's a fairly well known brand that many hardcore fans are familiar with and several of their top stars have been through there. It has potential to bring WWE some added revenue, as opposed to those 500 random indy companies.

But that last bit is the most right. ROH would be (for all intents and purposes) Stanford's last territorial acquisition, capping a process started by Vince McMahon Jr. at the outset of his time atop the E to basically steamroll every other major territory or wrestling organization in the continental United States. And it would, as you point out, potentially bring in some eyeballs and dollars. Personally, I think the move would be a great thing for WWE and WWE fans. And a terrible thing for the wrestling business.

Oh, I agree. As a WWE fan, I can just imagine how good future dvds of guys like KO, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and other guys will be thanks to the ROH library.
But as a wrestling fan, I don't want it to happen. This of course will just mean ROH will become more like WWE. Another NXT. Essentially, what ECW became. Different brand, same old, same old.
For a long time, Vince has claimed he likes competition. But's only a half truth. Vince likes competition he can crush.
I often wonder if it's an American thing. That there has to be only one Number 1. Two successful competitors is far too much.

It didn't occur to me that there was any financial value for them getting an ROH video library. "Many hardcore fans" being the key term would seem to me that there's just not enough of a base to make that worthwhile. But you guys are certainly more up to date with that stuff than I am so I guess there's more current wwe stars that have come through there than I had originally realized. I watched the product from day 1 and was a huge fan, but I haven't watched it in years and didn't know Vince even knew it existed much less would have interest in it. I don't know about it being an American thing. There used to be 30 places in America alone where guys could make a living in wrestling. That was before Vince Macmahon took over his father's company.

WWE was just in talks with SBG to use footage of Tyler Black and Kevin Steen.

Bad for wrestling and wrestling fans if this goes through.

Hopefully it doesn't. Vince is 71 so he can't do this much longer.
