I enjoy a plain hotdog or just a slice of melted cheese. I only eat Nathan's hotdogs, the others make me sick.

Plain would be too bland, for me. I like mustard ... yellow, Dijon or Gulden's (brown). Relish or sauerkraut is good, but not both. I also like a hearty French/Dutch roll, as opposed to the squishy buns that are packaged in plastic. It's best if the inner side of the roll is well toasted to a flavorful crunch. (I don't mind a little ketchup on a hotdog, but I hope that WKM, Kos - or anyone else from Chicago - never sees this post. I understand that it will set me up for a lifetime of ridicule and scorn. )

I make my own topping by mixing yellow mustard, sweet relish, chopped onions & Tabasco. I make a pint jar at a time and it'll last in the fridge for months. I put this on all my dogs.

Only if it is one of those that they sell out of carts in midtown Manhattan. I have eaten those plain and would not eat them any other way. Otherwise I prefer Gulden's and/or kraut. One other I have to mention. If you have never had a Michigan you haven't lived.

I don't understand the big deal, people should eat the way they like to eat, there should be no rules. I have never cared for ketchup and only like mustard in things (or the little bit of mustard on Publix's Cubans) I never liked what was called the Chicago dog ( I also don't care for deep dish pizza). I didn't eat hot dogs for years because they made me sick to my stomach but several months ago I tried Nathan's hotdogs, they tasted good and I didn't get sick. The fanciest I get with a hotdog is a chili dog but my digestive system has to be up to that. (oh - sometimes I put some Sweet Baby Ray's honey Barbeque sauce on the hot dog bun)

Nutsberry: Have you ever tried UTZ's cheeseballs? They are good but oh so unhealthy, I no longer buy them, they sell them in a big plastic jug. WKD feel alseep one day with his hand in the jug and cheeseballs all over the bed. What a mess but the wicked kitties had a good time batting the cheeseballs .

first of all.... these sumbitches right here... ketchup and mustard. sauerkraut with mustard [but not ketchup] that pizza hot dog in the first couple of posts or so looks good. the one with the white [hope was cheese] and the little red bits. nothing majorly messy or heartburney.

I recently had a bite of a Five Guys hot dog with ketchup and was surprised how well the flavors worked for me although I probably won't ever order a whole one like that.

I'd prefer no hotdog. I have been known to eat them but I'd rather have anything else.
