Just watched this...
Yep, enjoyed this one too. Tied everything together nicely.
7/10
Not a bad quartet of films really. 1 was a bit heavy on jump scares, 2 was a bit scrappy, but they nailed it with 3 & 4.

I enjoyed The Last Key more than 2 and 3. I thought they did a good job of creating an atmosphere and like you say it tied everything together nicely.

Still don't think I can be bothered, not in my role as President of the Lin Shaye Hate Club.

I personally found it to be subpar. It wasn’t terrible, but it isn’t that interesting either. I liked the more depth given to Elise’s backstory and Keyface (while a laughable name) is a very unique-looking and intimidating villain. What I didn’t like was that it just feels tired at this point because we’ve seen the same movie over, in fact it feels like a retread of Chapter 3. At the end of 3, Elise and her two ghost exterminators get to know each other, and the end shot is meant to be a callback to the first film. It ended so well! That’s why I feel it should’ve ended it with 3.
Come to realize, we are polar opposite on how we view the franchise, @fjh. I like 1 and 2 the best, but you favour 3 and this one more.

Still don't think I can be bothered, not in my role as President of the Lin Shaye Hate Club. Interesting. How come you do not like? She pops up in a few films usually in a supporting role. She kinda reminds a bit of Ruth Gordon.

Have to say I was hugely disappointed with it last night. I adore the first film, and can find much to laud in the second one - I also love a good boo-jump movie, but this just came off as an excuse to walk Elise Rainier through a haunted house and throw jump scares at regular intervals. I get that the narrative ties things up in a nice bundle, but it just becomes boring and not even Darth Maul Demon can save it. 5/10
