I use it to marinate chicken and certain cuts of beef. Plus, I like to just drink it plain from time to time.

For some time, I've been making "creme fraiche," which has a much deeper flavor than commercial sour cream. I'd heard of it, but thought that it was just something that is super-fancy. The idea of making it never crossed my mind. Then, one of my favorite YouTube chefs ... "Chef John," from Foodwishes.com," ... did a video (below). It's as simple as combining heavy cream, with some added buttermilk. It does take a couple of days to "set up," to the consistency of a sour cream. But, it's not complicated. If you can pour a glass of milk, you can make flavorful "creme fraiche." Before I tried this recipe, I never had buttermilk on hand. I, too, have used it for chicken marinade. I'm looking for other ways to use it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-635txQuig

Have you ever just drank a glass of it? So refreshing and satisfying!

When I was growing up as one of 7 kids, my mom would make a load of fried potatoes every Friday and serve them up with a class of buttermilk. That was Friday's dinner.

Shudder! However I have used it in baking. My husband loves it. Years ago we visited my grandmother with our toddler. She loved grandma and besides grandma had a glass of what the kid thought was milk. Grandma offered her some butter milk, kid took a swig, and promptly wiped her mouth out on grandmas skirt. Everyone laughed including grandma.
