Down 7-1 against the Braves. Tied it. Freeman HR to give Braves 8-7 lead. 9th inning 2 out, Brandon Phillips 2 run HR to give Red Sox a 9-8 lead. See if the former Braves Kimbrel can hold the lead.

Red SOx complete the comeback. Yankees can forget about the AL East run. They better concern themselves with holding the Wildcard lead.

I said in June that I thought this was the best Red Sox team I've ever seen. I credit a lot of this to Alex Cora. The Sox were so lifeless the last 2-3 seasons. No way the 2017 Sox would have come back. Day game after a night in interleague play that really isn't crucial. Last year, they would have lost by 10. They wouldn't have come back in the first game against the Yanks in the last series. But this bunch never says die. Reminds me of the 2004 team, without Millar.
They could still turn out to be another 2001 Mariners.

That 2001 Mariners, remember that they lost to the Indians in a game after leading by 12 runs? That would never happen to this Red Sox team.

And it's nice that seemingly every player takes a turn in the "hero" role. Like Brandon Phillips today. Steve Pearce hit three HR's in game one of the Yankees series. JBJ, Sandy Leon, Moreland, Kinsler, all have picked this team up at one point or another. It doesn't always depend on Mookie, JD or Ben in 10D. The thing that scares me is the starters. I get the feeling that Chris Sale doesn't like to pitch in big games. Either that or his shoulder is really bad. And we all know how David Price struggles in the postseason. This team could win 113 games and find itself down 0-2 against the Yankees, going back to NY. Almost happened in 2014 but David Ortiz pulled them out of the abyss. And non-Yankee teams that have won 110+ games in the regular season have historically choked in the postseason.

I am excited about this postseason, especially AL.

He really excelled in the Andrew Miller role in the playoffs against Houston last year. He was injured and had innings limitations. The Sox could go with Sale, Porcello, Ed Rodriguez and Eovaldi as the four man playoff rotation, send Price to the pen to bridge between the starters and Kimbrel. I'd do it in a heartbeat.
