I expect Nick Foles to provide ample evidence that midnight struck long ago, that his fairy godmother isn’t returning his calls, and that the pumpkin we saw in preseason is here to stay. Falcons win.

Picked the Falcons. That being said - Go Birds! (Eagles!) My concern with the Eagles is - a lot of their top stars didn't play during their horrid preseason. I.E. Peters, Ajayi were out - Jeffery is out tonight. I'll be concerned if this team starts off 1-3, but tonight to me is about the return of football. Going to comically ask (because I know it will happen), all fans in Phily and the Tri-State Area - if they do get smoked tonight (anybody remember that KC/New England game last year when New England was celebrating their SB?) - please don't go lining up at the Ben Franklin Bridge to jump - in the words of Aaron Rodgers - R-E-L-A-X - weak division - 'We' win it by default.

Weak division from last year, but I have no fucking clue what to expect this year. I fantasize that the Giants fixed all the problems and that Pat Schurmer is the second coming of Bill Parcels, but who know. I think 3 and 13 had to have been an aberration to a degree, especially since so many of those were close games. And they have certainly added some weapons. But I don't know that anyone has any real idea of what they are. Also, Dallas has a bunch of talent that can turn on or collapse on itself at any time. And Washington is a mess in general, but I do think Alex Smith is solid, even though they way they handled Cousins is one of the single dumbest and most confusing moves in recent in NFL memory. Philly obviously has proven they can put it all together, but I don't see it as the cakewalk a lot of people probably think it will be. The QB controversy will be there at every turn, you never know what will happen with injuries, but they have a few concerns there now, and as much credit as the coach deserves for last year, dealing with the follow up to success is a different kind of test. You certainly could be right, I just feel like I have a lot of questions all over the division.

You certainly could be right, I just feel like I have a lot of questions all over the division. I really hope the Giants, 'Skins and Cowboys all have very decent years. It makes for a more competitive season - i.e. a more fun season - the games more meaningful and exciting. Nothing like breaking your rivals hearts the last game of the season so they fail to make the playoffs. I hope Eli proves me wrong - I just don't see it. Always liked the guy. Love Barkley - but I would have drafted a QB just like I would have traded up to nab Watson a couple of years back. I just don't see Eli finding the Fountain of Youth. I think Dak is bigtime overrated. What's the story with the Cowboys O-Line now? Haven't checked in a week or so. Is their Center still out for the season or indefinitely or has he been upgraded? Was under the impression their whole O-Line was banged up and it's not even game 1. Elliott is the wildcard to me - but can he be the guy from his rookie season - will he manage to stay out of trouble. So many questions. I think their WRs are atrocious. I was never a Cousins fan; however was even less of an Alex Smith fan. As soon as their RB went down for the year - (wasn't he picked in the 2nd Round of this years Draft and they were going to highly depend on him) - to me it kind of ended their season. I've always seen Smith as a 'dink and dunker' although accurate - and then they signed AP - I thought that kind of reeked of desperation. Hope I'm wrong - I just don't see much competition. Although I see the NFC as stacked - I see the East as weak and kind of finishing like this give or take a couple of games: Eagles - 11-5 Cowboys - 8-8 Giants - 7-9 Skins - 6-10 Not horrid - but kind of 'meh' as usual.

You certainly could be right, I just feel like I have a lot of questions all over the division. There is absolutely zero quarterback controversy here in Philly. It’s Wentz’s team and he will start when healthy. It doesn’t matter if Foles is the second coming of Tom Brady or Brady Quinn. What Foles did in the playoffs elevated him to god-like status and his money will forever be no good in this town, but even he knows he’s the backup. The only controversy will be if Foles sucks before Wentz is ready do they use the third-stringer?

Super Bowl MVP brought this fanbase it's only glory in an epic run of magicness. It's the first game(s) of the season. Asking Philly, New Jersey, DE and Birds fans everywhere - please do not panic even is we don't see Wentzy for the First Month. Awaiting the phone lines of 97.5 and 94.1 to light up with morons tomorrow morning in panic mode. Should make for some epic listening. In fact - hold him out until the Bye if the doctors aren't 110% 'comfortable'. Franchise QB here. Need to handle him with kid gloves like Embiid and Simmons. 10/7 vs. Vikes - hope Folesy keeps them a respectable 2-2 and we see 'The Return'.

A bit OT but for those who might have missed it:
I'm still going with Eagles over the Falcons.

Atlanta win.
20 to 10.
Julio Jones gets no TDs.
Freeman gets 1. Coleman gets one. 2 field goals.
Eagles get a safety and a touchdown. They go for 2 and get it.

What is this garbage music concert thingy going on Shawn who?
I threw in some Z.Z. Top Tres Hombres and blasted it instead.
I see most of the experts on the NFL channel picked Atlanta.
I like Philly.

Yeah that concert was garbage, why does the NFL no longer have good music performances anymore? All crap.

Meh. The season doesn't really start till Sunday imo. So your opinion is both silly and factually incorrect. Good to know when reading future posts from you. Go Falcons.

Waiting for kick off, and now some pasty kid with bad hair and a warbly voice is making catholic priests squeal in the front row. It's fucking hot as balls outside!!! It's freaking September and it's 87 degrees at night???!!!

Thanks Xeliou for again taking on the task of starting the game threads.
Really looking forward to the start of regular season NFL football. I'm not watching any pregame as not to spoil the actual good stuff.

Penns Landing looks great in the background but i agree with the above - ain't the type of song I wanna get ramped up for on NFL Opening Night - some guy singing 'Help Me' the walls are caving in with teenage girls in the crowd.
It's opening night of the NFL for Christ Sakes.
Where's AC/DC?

Now that is a seriously specific prediction. If it plays out exactly like that you win the internet and I will pm you for lottery numbers after the game.
