Is this true? Did I miss something? I refused to even watch the King's Landing scenes because I expected that to be botched too,

Yes it was better on average without any doubts. Dragonstone was nothing but waste of time because producers wanted to force an idiotic Jon-Dany romance on us. North of the wall episode was the worst in the history of GOT. Not only was the plot extremely stupid in itself but it didn't even link well with the whole story
KL scenes were pretty good. Cersei performance was quite good too. That said KL was not necessarily the best part of season 7. The Spoils of War episode the best part of the season.

Too bad. This show's always been a bit of a mess anyway.

I found this on another site and it depicts why the quality took a plunge. "It 's coming home"

King's Landing was way better than the rest in S6 already. It felt like this was the adult version while the rest was written for 13 year old. It wasn't perfect but I could accept it. For a time, I thought I would simply strip the S7 episodes down to this, maybe adding Jaime's part too, and leave the rest aside. I couldn't bear to see Daenerys' face again. When the first episode aired and it was confirmed that they opened with the most ridiculous super-hero crap, I ditched the whole idea. I watched the "loot train attack" for the spectacle and adrenaline, trying to ignore the complete nonsense it was built on.

Daenerys was born on Dragonstone. History says the Mad King sent his pregnant wife and Viserys away from King's Landing to keep them safe, which is how they could escape. But none of this matters. When I read of a long, mute sequence showing Daenerys arriving, that was the other reason that kept me away forever. Why does she look like she's about to throw up all the time?

I still think Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken with that ridiculous Sand Snakes fight with Jaime and Bronn was the worst episode of GOT but Beyond the Wall is close behind.

The worst episodes I saw were the last three of Season 6. Utter garbage, almost all of it. I stopped watching after Battle of the Bastards. When I finally gave in months later and watched the finale so I could take part in discussions unspoiled, I regretted it immediately. There was nothing left to spoil. Disgusting.

Well we'll agree to disagree. The finale of season six was one of the best episodes and so was the Battle of the Bastards. A huge improvement over season 5.

Next question: has there been any sign of mental degradation in Cersei's behaviour in S7? There are such signs aplenty in the book original but there haven't been any in the show version in the first 6 seasons.

Yes, but I think the woman started her mental degradation before marrying Robert Baratheon.

She's the mother of madness. That doesn't make her mad. So no change in S7, right? Turned against the only family member she had left because she thinks the game of thrones is still important.

I don't think she turned against Jaime. As far as I know he was even allowed to leave as he pleased. and it was his decision. As to the Game Of thrones, give me a break. I know collectivist shits want to wiggle a fantasised threat in front of sane people and have them drop everything they do to join in their warm, fraternal and stinking embrace, just like lefturds have been doing with global warming (which has stopped long ago). Cersei's reaction was clear sighted, sober and realistic.
