I saw this bumped up in the politics section at IMDB cinematicworld.freeforums.net/ complete with a huge section of categories for popular movies and current TV shows already set up as well as old ones added. I've registered an account there. The admin who runs it seems active. What do you guys think of it?

It's kind of amazing how so many of these sites look just like this one. Has someone started a franchise?

lol IMDB had the layout first and people are more familiar with it. Also I don't see most of the IMDB boards there, it looks like they were omitted out.

When you decide to create one, you get the same standard website site created for you. Then the owner of each of these forums goes in and starts modifying it to make it "unique"... Although, they are really not unique, because most of these are being created to replace IMDb. We don't need 50 IMDb clones. One will do just fine... What we need are specific MOVIE or specific ACTOR websites... Like one website devoted to just the Star Wars Franchise. Those individual sites should be linked HERE.

OK makes sense so even down to the board names I assume?

For IMDB it was 19 years. People are just angry the boards are shutting down. I wouldn't be surprised if more popped up. Pretty sure there are fan sites devoted to just Star Wars even Star Trek. None like IMDB. And I've never seen categories added to a site yet. Pretty much people have just tried to copy IMDB to a tee except for categories added. What made it unique was the individual forums for the titles.

I've been working on a ProBoards forum of my own... for the past week ...for Classic Hollywood Actress "Ginger Rogers".
It's still in it's early construction phase... But..
It looks much pretty much like this so far:
WEBSITE (HOME) - Ginger Rogers - - Her Family & Close Friends - - Her Hobbies - Movies - - Gold Diggers Of 1933 - - Top Hat - - Monkey Business
- - ETC. (x73)
- TV Shows - - Here's Lucy - - Love Boat. - Games - Unsorted
ETC.
It can be done for any actress or any movie.
But, it won't be a busy forum, because only "Ginger Rogers" fans would be interested in it.
But it will be a much more rounded experience, and it will be more detailed, and so forth...
If others would do what I have done, and then when it's gets to be something worth sharing, they all could be linked here.
And if people want to go to these particular interest sites, they could join those, and get what they need.
This place, or any of the other clone sites, will never match a dedicated forum site, devoted to one ACTRESS. So why try?

Depends on how devoted you are to that one actress.

Depends on how devoted you are to that one actress. That's true, But we know that places for Star Wars & Star Trek, would be very popular. I think they would work much better on their own discussion forums.

Now that imdb is basically useless, any other good forum option which helps us to "keep in touch" (regarding movie information), adding to the semblance of how our movie-information board used to be, makes good sense to me. That's why the moment I heard of this cinematicworld I went ahead and joined it just to check it out, just as I had done with the flyingmonkeys' board, which I joined the same day as I did this one.

I will join that one too. It seems cool and legit. I like that the admins are active and attainable. I haven't had luck reaching the admin here but it's fine. I like that there are categories streamlined in genres and subjects. It just makes everything looks so cool. I suggested that and others have here. Making threads for active shows and current/popular films just doesn't seem as fun.

I'm not trying to speak for him or 'take his side', so to speak, but I know from experience how hard it is to set up something that works, which is the case here. Maybe the admins there are more reachable precisely because the board is yet small (which is why I like it too, because it's just starting out and it does feel 'calmer' when there's few users around). The board seems 'legit', of course, maybe because they're also proboards, as far as I can tell. I'll check it out to see how it's run by the admins there. So far it's looking good (to me).

Check out MovieMb.com, we are not another ProBoards clone, and each movie has its own board. We don't have nearly as many boards as IMDb yet, but we've managed to add 1500 boards in the last couple days and we plan on adding thousands more each day. Right now we have individual board for almost every movie that's come out in the last 5 years, as well as most of the titles that are coming out in 2017. While the sites main feature is individual boards, we do have general boards as well. This site is great, but we are focused more on filling the "individual board per title" gap.
