I might have missed the memo (think a WNY boy like R. Goodell would be better at keeping me informed) but I thought that excessive/choreographed celebrations were banned. Remember the Referees tormenting Terrell Owens. But I've seen groups of player in the Bills game and the Browns game assembling in the end zone and mugging for the cameras. Fif they change the rule?

I think they did change it. I think it just can't be disrespectful or something like that.

I always thought the new rule was you're free to celebrate by yourself - but once a teammate gets involved - it's excessive celebrating.....

Chargers did it twice with a group of six or eight. In Buffalo. Must have been a lot of Charger fans in one place because I didn't see any beer flying at them.
Seconds of research tell me that group celebrations are allowed as long as th ey don't delay the game. Which they did. Like assembling a 3rd grade class for a picture.

Starting last year they've been allowed a lot more leeway with choreography and douche baggery.

Starting last year they've been allowed a lot more leeway with choreography and douche baggery. Until it leads to fight. The Redskins receivers in the 80's, the Fun Bunch, had their little celebration and teams tried to break it up, defenders standing among them. Mark Gastineau's sack dance, White Shoes Johnson's dancing, same thing. The league banned it all to avoid melees. Icky Woods had the famous 'Icky Shuffe" but had to shuffle on the sidelines.
Since I thought of them twice today...

That changed before last year. Every touchdown last year seemed to involve some ridiculous celebration of leap frog, bowling pins, snowball fights, tag. It was as if every team had taken an improv class before last season.

The league is back and forth on the matter. One year they are extremely conservative, then they get more liberal for a few, then they get bugs up their asses again. They aren't very consistent.

I feel like ownership gives in to the union on stuff like touchdown celebrations so that they don’t have to give in on something that’s actually important.

Like anything else, you need balance. The rule was way too draconian before, but I don't want to see human pyramids or Duck, Duck, Goose now.
(Also, that time Stevie Johnson mocked Plaxico Burress - hilarious).
