So now it has been revealed the "King of Comedy" starting Robert De Niro and directed by Scorsese inspired the new Todd Phillips directed Joker film starting Joaquin Phoenix.

Robert De Niro even has a small part in the film as a nod to the 1982 dark comedy.

This makes me more excited for this film. Now I think I can finally understand where they are going with this.
