What a strange movie. It clearly wanted to be the next Dr. Strangelove, which it didn't come close to. It had its moments though.

Seems like bad taste. Tens of millions were killed by Communists BEFORE Stalin and yet everything gets blamed on him.
If someone made a film Death of Hitler with the same idea (Nazi party officials after Hitler's demise) it would be banned as in bad taste. Making light of Communist atrocities is never in bad taste despite far more victims.

I meant like an alternate reality type film-plus the Producers is so old (haven't seen the remake). Hogan's Heroes couldn't be done today either.
Sure there's Iron Skies and Kung Fury but those are crowdfunded ghetto stuff, nothing through any kind of major distribution hub.

Oh in that case I think you're right. If something like that about Hitler came out today, it likely would never get released.
