he has been tearing through classic american novels. but i have hardly heard anyone talk about his movies. he has directed movies based on BUKOWSKI's life (initially based on HAM ON RYE), TENNESSE WILLIAMS and classic american novels by faulkner - THE SOUND AND THE FURY, AS I LAY DYING; mccarthy - CHILD OF GOD; steinbeck - IN DUBIOUS BATTLE. except for THE DISASTER ARTIST, none of the films have more than 5,000 ratings on IMDB.

I saw “In Dubious Battle”. It was odd seeing Selena Gomez in a period piece.

Sadly not. Good actor though. Love his work in Gus Van Sant's 'Milk' (2008).

Child of God was morbidly fascinating, and I really enjoyed The Disaster Artist.

Yes, I have been sort of watching his works as a film director.

THE DISASTER ARTIST is the only one I've seen of his directorial efforts - but it's in my top 10 of the decade thus far.
