If that day should ever arrive, and I'm alive, I will shave my head and become a Buddhist nun.

He doesn't explain why some future Pope couldn't present some kind of "enlightened" understanding, and change the rule. (And let's assume he has substantial support among Cardinals.)

This is a short video. Father touched on it briefly, that being that a priest is "In persona Christi". To call a Papal change "enlightened" defeats the character of Roman Catholicism.

Father touched on it briefly, that being that a priest is "In persona Christi". That would be an argument against making the change. But he doesn't explain why a future Pope couldn't argue the contrary and announce that the past understanding of "In persona Christi" was too constricted.
(Don't worry, I know why a future Pope couldn't. But it's not in the video.)

It is the very character and historic, doctrinal tradition, that men can only be ordained to the priest hood. What makes an apple an apple and a pear a pear?
Thank you for your kind respect on this matter. Will see if I can find more specific data, if you wish.

No need. What the video failed to explain was (a key term in the Catholic Church) the so-called "Deposit of Faith". The teachings contained in this depository (for example, that priests must be men) are the things the Church says it has no authority to change. So, it CANNOT be changed, even by a Pope.Oh, don't mention it. I'm sure I'll be saying something disrespectful in due time.

Yep, Jesus was a male and all his disciples were male.
They were also all born in Palestine. Why isn't that a requirement for the priesthood?

I don't care what kind of self-serving bullshit is in the video. The real reason is crystal clear: the church is a pathological patriarchy and they don't want to share power with the other half of the planet.
