IN THE Roman Catholic Church why cannot women become priests?

For once, I am going to give a serious reply.


I will answer by giving the reason that priests had to be male and single ( and this led to a requirement of celibacy due to the other requirement to only have sex within marriage.

Because the church wanted to have no rules of succession which meant the passing down of property and wealth to future generations (thus keeping it all within the church) they required priests to be unmarried to prevent children and succession.

By extension, women did not fit into this scenario at all, so they were traditionally the handmaidens, worker bees and progenitors of future priests, nuns and general flock to keep the church going.
