Oliver Fisher needs 1 birdie and 2 pars from his last 3 holes to break 60. It's never been done in Europe. One of those holes is a par 5 so he's got a great chance Had to sink a couple of dodgy shortish putts on 16 & 17, getting his birdie at the latter, then on the 463 yard 18th, he hit a screamer off the tee. 329 yards leaving himself a 130-yard second shot to the pin. Not surprisingly his adrenaline kicked in and he overshot the hole by about 40 odd feet and then almost holed that putt for a 58. It scraped the hole and left him a putt of about 2 feet to become the first player to break 60 in a European Tour event. The course at Villamoura is one that I've played and it is not that easy, believe me....unless you can drive the ball over 300 yards.

The Algarve is Portugal's answer to Myrtle Beach. Golf courses galore and all of a high quality. Because of its climate, it is very popular with European golfers, particularly the Brits and the quality golf courses stretch from Palmares on the South West to Villamoura, Val de Lobo and beyond. It's some years since I was there but I loved the Quinta de Lago course. It is also popular with tennis players
