Terrible idea. Would you play in that tournament? I wouldn't.

Terrible idea. Would you play in that tournament? I wouldn't. Well, considering that I haven't held a tennis racquet in at least ten years and that even when I was playing semi-regularly I rarely ever beat anyone, I don't think I would be invited to take part anyway...
Seriously now, if I were Djokovic or Nadal or Federer I might play, but if I were Joao Sousa from Portugal, currently ranked 49th in the world, I don't think I would. What's the point? I would be lucky to get as far as the quarter-finals.

Why risk injury (after a grueling grand slam no less) for potentially no gain? I actually think the opposite. Top players would skip it while somebody ranked 50th would give it a go for the payout alone.

The top players, who are already multi-millionaires, might not be enticed by money alone, and if they all opt out, then even Mr. Sousa might figure that he has a shot.

I agree with you guys, this idea is really stupid.

If no good players entered it it would be cancelled. The aim would be to have two of the Big Four facing each other or a next-gen player in the final, all or nothing. If the mid-ranking players don't bother, much the better, more players for the good ones to flatten.

The best players in the world already have money & they're not going to gamble days after a grand slam with probability they get nothing. It'll be a field of hacks.
