There is a Roman Catholic Church in the basement of a shopping mall in Bergen county, New Jersey. It is run by the Carmelite order.

Great thread prog. I do love to visit these places. There is a great calmness and peace about isolated places.

This is the one closest to me. I can't really get good pics to show how strangely out of place it looks. I don't live in a town per se, where I live, its all former military married quarters housing, this is right outside a military base that is also a civilian airport, and .....its complicated. The lead singer of Iron Maiden owns a company there, Cardiff Aviation. Aston Martin have moved onto the base to build new cars. Anyway, its next to the more posh housing but its not like part of that settlement, it is in its own spot. Big fields next to it until we hit the next patch of housing. I hope the folk who go there for actual Christian reasons don't believe in chemtrails and sky demons, they would be shitting themselves from the aircraft landing on base, military and civilian, and the ones landing at Cardiff Airport which isn't actually in Cardiff.....its in a wee town called Rhoose. I myself was once walking along a field behind it, at night, and was a tad agitated when I saw a large airliner flying low enough that I could see, at night, that it was a British Airways plane. I could see the logo, it was that frickin low. Its quite scary sometimes when the larger planes come in - I live right under their friggin approach to the airport. I've seen 747s, 777s, an A400M, C-17s, REAL low. Why the hell would you build a church under the same approach path?! In fact, no joke - the Red Cross take old folk there for ....sitting around. As I was walking past, one old lady asked me, What is that noise?!!!! The noise scaring her was a jet engine being tested on the military/civilian/Aston Martin base. 😲
