The company of wolves nightmare on elm street
Aside from a major genre hit, not much of a horror year compared to others in the decade.

1. A Nightmare on Elm Street (best slasher movie of the 80s IMO)
2. Gremlins
For my No.3, I'm undecided between C.H.U.D. and Children of the Corn.

A Nightmare on Elm Street Other - The Terminator Gremlins HM - Friday the 13th Part IV, Silent Night Deadly Night I rarely hear people refer to The Terminator as a horror movie, which is why I didn't list it in the poll. Instances like this are another reason I added the OTHER option.

Instances like this are another reason I added the OTHER option. The first is definitely horror-like with its slasher-stalker structure (try saying that 3 times). Maybe that’s why I like it more than T2.

I understand your point, but I just don't see it as a horror movie and I honestly didn't know other people did either. I have heard SOME people refer to it as horror-like but that isn't very often.

True. I don't even acknowledge the franchise as horror whatsoever, yet I see the original as a semi-horror film, with more action elements.

I like T2 better than the first for the exact reason you like it less. I do love both, and I think T2 is better in a number of ways, but T1 is just more dreadful in its tone and the low-budget aspect added to the style it was going for.
