Well, I thank you for your service. Peace! No need, (I assume) we're all just regular fellas here. Nah some of these people are irregular as fuck, me im regular as clockwork, I shit 3 times a day....you didn't mean that kind of regular did you?
Also I don't see what the big deal is, like you said Death Man this is the sort of stuff that will inspire young people to sign up to the military, and LenLen I dunno mate im thinking her service will play a fair part in the movie, you need to establish she's not just some random chick who won the superpower lottery, make it so that she's earned the right to be called a hero, easy way to do that is make her journey to becoming a captain and pilot a big accomplishment and something she worked to achieve, I could be wrong though and you be spot on but I kind of doubt it in this instrance is all.
What I find odd is how this is meant to be marketing right? is it just me but does having the star you want people to love so they love her character be sat utterly separated from the normies behind her kind of do the opposite, that makes her seem a bit arrogant and pompous that she's sitting there looking like she's in love with her own film whilst everyone kept away from her, should have had kids sitting infront and to her sides to make her seem warmer and more down to earth, but I am probably over thinking things.

That was a whole other lifetime ago. I tried the family business on for size and it wasn't for me. Since then, I've finished a classics degree, read a shit ton of comic books and I'm working on my first novel. Gotta keep moving forward.

Good observation and, as far as I know, it has always been that way whenever the military interacts with celebrities. It is mildly annoying but, It all depends on the celeb, their management and what command wants to get out of the whole thing. Jim Gandolfini was a first class act when I met him and he loved to mix in and not get singled out for special treatment.

People in the armed forces have the same varied tastes in movies as everyone else. Some of them love romantic comedies and every other genre there is. Some of us love TCM. Your implication that members of the armed forces will only "come out" for certain genres or movies in which the star has served in the armed forces is pretty absurd on it's face.
As for Captain Marvel, I believe part of it was filmed on an Air Force Base using Air Force equipment which is why she posed for this picture with some of the people from the base. Maybe they got a screening (I don't know). The MCU is very popular with the general public so there is no reason to think it wouldn't be popular with members of the armed forces as well.

Thanks man, draft one is (more or less) complete. Whats the genre? Honestly, I haven't really decided. Didn't think about it much as I was planning and writing it. To me, it's speculative fiction but, folks who know about these things think it will be more marketable as military-themed science fiction. I just hope it doesn't suck and I can sell it one day.
