Get home from work Friday night and my 8 year old son asks what to watch tonight - Batman or Batman Returns? Let's go with the slightly less nightmarish one.
Michael Keaton looks so boss in the bat suit.
The Danny Elfman score is just amazing.
How much juice must Joker's hand buzzer pack to turn Antoine into a piece of charcoal?
What is Joker's motivation? That Batman gets all of his press?
For the longest time, never clued in those pictures in Joker's lair are related to the nerve gas he uses later. Derp!
That moment when Joker literally pushes the Mayor off the TV screen is fucking stupid.
Didn't make any sense for Joker's goons to already be in the bell tower. I did like the gag with one of the goons literally crashing through the floor and Batman getting beaten by super Ray Charles.
The increased resolution on the larger TV shows obvious model work when the Batwing crashes.
And what's with that stupid grin?

Did it really make much sense for Jack Napier to decent into complete madness after being deformed? I know he was already a bit eccentic and metnally unstable, but his transition into madness was a bit sudden. There's an intersting fan theory for "The Dark Knight" that the Joker was a soldier that got scarred and PT from the Iraq War which seems like a better explanation for his insanity.

One of my issues with '89 Batman is that he does get his ass kicked quite a lot. The belltower fight with the black goon went on forever.

I've always found Batman '89 to be a good-but-not-great film.

I actually first saw these movies when I was about 8 myself. I actually liked Returns more (although it made me cry)) and didn't care much for this one. Old, fat Joker. Supporting character Batman, who's stiff and awkward in fights. Dark as sh*t vhs tape. Eh.

Words to live by.
"Never rub another man's rhubarb."
"Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?"
