I can't think of any titles off hand but the other day I was amazed that a movie was released more than 10 years ago and it felt like I just saw it advertised last year. Or that this movie came out 20 years ago which means that everyone who starred in it is now 20 years older to.
It might be silly but does anyone else ever have these thoughts or similar ones when looking at the year a movie was released?

Yeah, Batman is 30 next year. Where does the time go?

It was an odd feeling for sure when I realized that both Iron Man and The Dark Knight came out ten years ago already.

Has it really been nearly two decades since The Matrix?

Yeah, does seem like that but I think it generally plays into that idea that the older a person gets the faster time seems to pass.
hell, just looking at the current decade... I can't believe we got not much over a year of it left as it feels it just started not all that long ago.
or another thing... it seems closer to 2000 than it does 2020 as 2020 sounds all futuristic.

Yes, although realising how long has passed since other 'life events' is arguably even more powerful. It's close to two decades since the millennium celebrations, which seems insane to me.

I try not to..and it just gets faster and faster as you get older. That recent boogie nights post made me realise it was 20 years ago since that film came out. What is a year anyway? It's almost flippin' xmas again.

It's crazy how fast time moves by these days.

And Christmas is coming again already. Fuck.

WarrenPeaceHell, even the new year feels like that was not long ago and already 9 months have passed since.

Absolutely. I use movies to measure the passing of time very often and have for a long time.
It's become a bit meaningless now though, due to how ridiculously fast time passes these days.

Well actually for me, the year of release just makes me think of the fact that the movie is usually not talked about anymore as the years have gone by. For example, in 2013 I rewatched American Beauty, which I hadn't seen since it was in theaters in 1999. 14 years had gone by and nobody even mentioned that movie anymore even thought it was basically THE movie of 1999.
