Never heard of the first brand. Hires is not here, either. We have Barqs, A&W, and Mugg. |

We have Barqs, A&W, and Mugg. Cheerwine is mainly a North Carolina, Tenneesee, and southern Virginia soft drink. It's like a very cherry flavored Dr. Pepper almost. Red color in appearance. When I was growing up, my grandparents had a lake house in North Carolina and we'd always pick some up when we were there. You can find it at Cracker Barrel restaurants in the gift shop area, but it's like $7 or more for a 4 pack of glass bottles. Hires used to be available, but I guess the local Dr. Pepper bottler (that's who owns Hires) decided to concentrate on A&W root beer (their other root beer brand) and stopped distributing in my area. I can find it online in a 12 pack of cans but it's close to $25 or more shipped. I'm not that desperate to get it. haha |

I'm curious as to what New Coke tasted like. I actually thought it was pretty good. Kind of like a combination of Pepsi with some Dr. Pepper added to it if I remember correctly. I actually bought 6 packs (back when they had such a thing) on close out at the local Kroger grocery store when the backlash occurred. I think Kroger had them discounted to $.50 a six pack or something ridiculous like that. |
