Mountain Dew or Coca-Cola Classic with Dr Pepper being a close 3rd. after those three... things take a solid hit mainly because once I put aside those 2-3 drinks there is nothing else I am aware of that I would not get tired of fairly quickly as those 2-3 drinks I mentioned above I can drink day-after-day and not get tired of them over the long term where as pretty much everything else I can't drink day-after-day for any length of time. I generally alternate between Coke/Mountain Dew 2-liters as I typically drink in the ball park of 16-32oz per day with meals etc. but with all of that said it seems my taste for pop is pretty mainstream as 3 out of the Top 5 sellers are my bread-and-butter (although the other two suck)... 1)Coke (i.e. Coca-Cola Classic) 2)Diet Coke 3)Pepsi 4)Mountain Dew 5)Dr Pepper so putting aside diet pop, which tastes like crap, of the four regular pop's remaining only Pepsi sucks for me but the other three left I simply don't get tired of, especially Coke/Mountain Dew as these two have been my favorites over the long term. Ill be 39 years old later this month. I don't know how anyone likes Pepsi over Coke as Pepsi is too sweet where as Coke is just right. ill also add that Mountain Dew is hands down the hardest pop to copy as nothing else is even close to it's taste as I think others come closer to copying Coke's taste than they do with Mountain Dew.
also, ill say I do like Mountain Dew Throwback which is basically Mountain Dew but uses real sugar instead of the HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) as there is a noticeable taste difference between these two which is odd because I notice more of a taste difference between Mountain Dew using real sugar than I do with Coke using real sugar. with that said... I like both but if I can find it ill get the Throwback version. but in general I can't really find the Throwback version of Mountain Dew in 2-liters (I have years ago but they don't seem to stock them and you mainly see a small section for 12oz cans) so I don't get to taste it often.
p.s. I see others mentioning Barq's root beer and I will say this about it... it's the most unique tasting root beer I have tasted which pretty much makes it my all around favorite root beer. but with that said... it's something I can drink once in a while but not on a regular basis.
Yeah, I hear bad things about those artificial sweeteners (i.e. aspartame etc) and not only that diet pop tastes like crap compared to regular.
p.s. if someone is trying to lose weight, diet pop is not the way to do it. they probably overeat etc in general. for the record... I am smaller than most guys (5'7" @ 140lbs or so (maybe 145lbs tops) and ill be 39 years old later this month) as I don't have a weight issue and I drink about 16-32oz of either Coke or Mountain Dew pretty much every single day.
I don't know how anyone prefers that nasty bland taste of diet pop over the proper/normal stuff. there's a night and day difference.

moviemouth On stuff like this... yeah, it's hard to believe (even though I acknowledge your right). like I can understand someone liking say Pepsi over Coke and the like between normal pops. but diet is just SO different it's hard for me to imagine someone actually preferring that unnatural taste over normal sugar variations. because it seems people in general tend to like sugar in some form or another be it pop or candy or chocolate etc. that's why it's difficult for me to see why some people prefer diet over regular but I suspect those who do are in the minority as given the info of the Top 5 selling pop's it seems I am correct. but with all of that said... it seems most agree with me given the general Top 5 best sellers info I posted (i.e. 4 out of the 5 are regular with only one being diet) as while Diet Coke is #2 behind regular Coke I would assume pop drinkers in general either drink regular or diet because I suspect those two things are generally polarizing as if one likes regular they will think diet tastes like crap and if someone drinks diet they probably don't drink regular. just some thoughts

moviemouthNot much interest in the topic? because I think I am striking up a decent conversation about it as I tend to give more info than most do on certain topics.

No, I mean your thoughts in general have become of no interest to me. I am not trying to be rude, I am just stating a fact. The simple fact is that some people prefer the taste of diet soda. The fact that those people are in the minority is beside the point.

moviemouthBut would you at least say that sometimes my comments are at least okay-ish? I think I would give most people in these forums at least that much in that they make a decent comment/reply from time-to-time on a random topic in these IMDb2 forums. with that said, I realize my comments are of more value in some areas than others though as it just depends on the topic etc. Yeah, if you want to go down that line of thought and stick more strictly to the topic which is simply asking people what the prefer. but I just thought I would make some additional comments to make things a bit more interesting then just a basic reply and leaving it at that.

You often go into details that become tedious to me, partly because I often know what you are going to say before I even read your comments on a subject.

Your thoughts are beginning to bore me. Yes, too much palaver. I have edited down their last response that was made to both of us, to all he really needed to say. We don't need to know everything minute detail of his drinking habits. Ooh, I learned a new word.

I don't get the thing with diet drinks and no sugar. It's all chemical crap and you may as well just take the sugar. Except for the time when the different flavors for Diet Coke were introduced (vanilla, lemon, lime), I've avoided diet soft drinks like the plague. For myself, water is preferable over any diet drink. My favorites: Coca Cola Classic Mello Yello Cherry Coke Root beer Grape soda Mt. Dew Live Wire

Really soda is bad regardless of diet or regular. But it’s a nice change of pace flavor wise on occasion. Between all the man made ingredients diet wise and the HFCS in most regular soda I figure it’s a toss up. Luckily even if it’s still not healthy more soda makers are using real sugar.

Coca-Cola. I'm onboard the slim cans, because I really don't wanna drink that much. It just goes with everything & anything, any time of the day.
Canada has also in the recent years reduced the sugary syrup volume of Coke, to match the US's. For me, Coke now tastes lighter & less body, which is apparently how it's always been just about everywhere else this entire time. It used to be like Pepsi up here.

Just because me and you think diet soda tastes bad doesn't mean everybody does. Some people think regular soda tastes TOO sweet and that is why they prefer diet. I just don't get why they think it is better, or even tastes better.
I don't have an issue with sugar or sweetness. I find sweetness to be nourishing in the body.
It's safe to say everyone that knows you already presumes that.
