I assumed "Baby Geniuses" bombed, but apparently it did well enough to warrant a sequel

Pacific Rim. It seemed the story was complete.

Oh right, Independence Day. Like Pacific Rim, it didn't seem warranted.

I had no idea Westworld had a sequel until season 2 of the TV show.

I still think it's weird that The Sting actually has a sequel that no one seems to know about.

Bring it On comes to mind. I don't think even the first one needed to be made.

If you even remotely like American Graffiti , do NOT (even under threat of death) go anywhere near AG II. It actually spoils the first one if you watch what the writers envisioned as the character's futures. Stick with the Original and be prepared to laugh and maybe even shed a tear or two. GREAT use of music !

I was surprised that Sicario had another run, Sicario II. But after seeing II, there had better be a third.

Mister Roberts 1955, Henry Fonda, James Cagney, William Powell and Jack Lemmon, classic movie with great actors but then 1964 a sequel came, based on Jack Lemmon's character Ensign Pulver Though great talents were involved, it seems to have diminished from many peoples memories. Robert Walker Jr was no match comparing him with Jack Lemmon's original.

OP didn't say cinema only sequels, but I understand your point, and will adjust accordingly in future posts here!
