I honestly do not understand this particular complaint at all. I've heard all kinds of complaints ranging from how he isn't a blonde haired and blue eyed white guy (because if there's one thing Hollywood doesn't have enough of, it's an unambiguously white leading man...), to him looking like a "barbarian" (how much do you want to bet that fewer people would be calling him that if he were a blonde haired white guy?), to his outfit not being orange. I suppose the latter one might have some validity to it compared to the others, but the latest poster has pretty clearly demonstrated that his outfit isn't devoid of color (not that it'll make a huge difference with Zack Snyder's color grading, but whatever).
Seriously, why does Aquaman need to be blonde anyway? The only time him having blonde hair has ever been relevant to the story was during a brief period in the Post-Crisis comics, which was done solely as a pointless way of explaining why he was the only Atlantean who was blonde. Apart from that, it doesn't affect any aspect on his character whatsoever.

The way I see it, if there was one character that needed an updated and new look it was AquaMan. Try and erase the notion so many people had about how much of a joke he was and make him this Jason Mamoa bad ass and have those people shut up. I love everything about his look to be honest and he's really the only part of the JL film I'm looking forward to seeing. I'm glad they didn't give him the tacky orange shirt. To me my favorite AquaMan look was this Which seems to be what they were going for but without the blonde haired white guy. I love how there is a nod to the blonde hair with his blonde streaks in there. I just think in the end he looks so freakin' awesome and that they needed to change up his look to fit into this universe and for a wider audience to take him more seriously instead of the punch line so many people viewed him to be.

well because it's a variation from the comics? I mean people got upset when Grant Gustin wasn't a blonde, same with Ezra.

I haven't seen one complaint about Aquaman's depiction in JL. On the contrary, I've only seen positive responses to him. there's a thread around here

On the contrary, I've only seen positive responses to him. there's a thread around here Well I made a thread about how he was basically Namor. That wasn't a complaint but an observation. I personally like the direction they took with Aquaman, just pointing out that to make him badass they Namorized him. Anyway, the only real complaint I have about him is that his armor looks a bit clunky. The quality is great and I have no complaints about the color but it does seem bulky. For someone who swims at very high speeds underwater I was expecting a more streamlined armor.

To me he comes across like Thorquaman the Submariner. When he talks he reminds me of Thor with Namor's looks.

His way of speaking doesn't really strike me as Thor-esque. He talks more like a gruff biker sort of person.

Well Superman had under armor which is why it fits him like a second skin. Aquaman's doesn't, it actually looks solid and heavy and, well, armor-like. Not that that's a bad thing specifically, since he's the only one that has armor that actually looks like it can stop blades and bullets. Just seems weird that they gave the heaviest-looking armor to the dude who swims underwater. And I'm having trouble imagining him swimming in that. Now just to be clear, this is me nitpicking. The armor isn't really that bad. Just wish they could have been a bit more minimalist with it, more streamlined.

Maybe Chris Hemsworth, but I can't really picture Thor himself saying "I dig it".

Pretty much the same thing I thought about Quicksilver in DoFP. That even applies with Flash in this. They put all this crap on a guy whose power is to run fast.

He's the one who started this trend of turning Ninja-Batman into Robo-Batman. And so now DC's arguably most agile fighter, its fastest runner and its swimmer are all clad in heavy armor. While their frontline heavy sluggers like Wonder Woman and Superman are the least clad.

Well he'll need it when he's going up against other Kryptonians or Doomsday or Darkseid... which in retrospect is pretty much every opponent he faced in the DCEu movies.
