What the what? Ok let get this straight. WB is taking on Gunn after all the controversy that Gunn was in? I know Disney could've and should've done a little back checking on his previous tweets. There is some doubt that they didn't know. (they probably knew) Now everyone knows especially WB and the Comic Book World. Is the WB/DC so desperate that they said fuck it. So what if he was signalling pedophiles with his vocabulary, his vile jokes, and the parties he went too. It's one thing to be ignorant of something and making a quick and hard decision. In this case WB has no fucking reason other than Gunn made Disney a shit ton of money. I just lost a lot of respect for WB/DC. If the DC fans don't come out and lambaste WB/DC then they are hypocrites. You'll need at every turn to put down WB/DC. You need to boycott the movie and possible boycott the entirely DCEU. If he writes and directs this will leave a taint on the DCEU.

Disney fired Gunn because they’re obsessed with the image that they’re this clean and family friendly company. WB isn’t as concerned about that.

That's odd because I remeber he was sentenced and convicted in the court of Social Media - the highest courts in the land. Uh oh, this is going to have to get kicked up to the appellate courts here at IMDBv2. Conviction overturned! We're good to go on Pedo Squad 2: Electric Boogaloo. Hee hee hee...

I edited my post before your reply. I added: I can't fucking believe this. I don't know if he is actually a pedophile or not. The jokes he made were vile either way. If your brain can come up with those jokes and enjoy them then there is something a little off at least. I fully supported the decision to fire him. There wasn't much Disney could do Me and my sister were molested at a very young age. And while we are both fine, making fun of abuse like that strikes a nerve.

Spin control is in full effect, the apologists are crafting the narrative... "WB did a background check." "I MAY have to skip this one." "Gunn was never right for the Disney brand. He's fine for WB!" Welcome back, Jim. WB/DC Fans always could spot a friend.

With my past I might be oversensitive about his "jokes" Well, there haven’t been any allegations against him as of now, and if you’re familiar with his pre-Marvel filmography, you would know that his films crossed a lot of lines, so his old tweets seem to be inline with that.

I guess the distinction for me is, it is one thing to write jokes said by characters that push the line or situations/scenes that crosses the line. It's another to have a joke that you project from your POV. Ricky Gervais does a joke about molestation. I think it's fucking horrible but he at least didn't put himself in the joke. It's still fucking vile and I lost respect for Ricky Also Daniel Tosh specifically address child molestation in a joke. Still fucking vile joke, but again it's not from Daniel's POV. It's a subtle difference but still makes me angry when I hear them. Again I maybe overly sensitive to that kind of joke. IDK.

Disney is a family friendly company. Warner Bros isn't. So obviously they're not going to care.
I mean they worked with Weinstein for christ sake.

One likes to pretend it's a squeaky clean studio that has never employed problematic people and the other likes to work with folks who are either sexual predators or have done unspeakable acts that should barred them from ever working in the industry. Granted Hollywood is hypocritical.

Now that he's working for WB it's, que sera sera - what will be will be. It's just the way Hollywood is, right? When he was working for Disney, it was a hive of scum and villainy, and Gunn was a lowlife predator. I don't want to see any limp dicks in this piece. Stay hard.

I felt that Disney acted too hasty but it was their decision in the end. Glad James Gunn has gotten a chance to bounce back. Might kill two birds with one stone and deliver a more coherent SS installment (speaking as someone that liked the first one).

While there is no accusations against Gunn, this still taints the DCEU for me. I am not equating his tweets with the accusations made against Singer that would be a false equivalency. The rape accusation is far worse than tweeting pedophilia jokes from your pov. Those accusations make it hard to watch the X-men movies and Usual Suspects. I still think his X-men movies are great. I also still think Usual Suspects is great even with two accused rapists/molesters. I can separate the art from the artist in that regard. I still feel like I'm supporting Singer when I go back and watch his movies. With GotG I can separate the art form the artist here too. I hate his twee/jokes for a personal reason, but like everyone says we don't have accusations against him. We just have the tweets. So while I feel his tweets are miles away from Singer's accusations of rape, I still feel a little wrong watching Gunn's movies now. Since this whole controversy I haven't gone back and watched GotG even when I was doing the marathon of MCU movies leading up to Avengers 3. I am going to feel the same way when/if his DC movie comes out. I probably going to skip it entirely.

In all seriousness, I can understand your point of view --- especially if you've had some personal experience dealing with a pedaphile. That said, Gunn's joke tweaks were in extremly poor taste; however, I think that was all there was to it. If Victims stepped forward or there was a credible documented history, I'd believe otherwise... I find myself watching his films more defensively now but, I can still watch them.

Yeah I don't condemn anyone from watching his films. It's just more of a personal thing with me. I just feel like I'm supporting him and his jokes. I would never presume to tell someone else they are. It sucks too because I really liked GotG 1 and Slither a lot. In a while I might waiver on not watching his movies again if there were a reason too. I don't know.
